Who are the team at The Mobility Physio?
The Mobility Physio is a team of skilled physiotherapists with at least 5 years experience in caring for older people and those with dementia. The team covers a wide area and therefore the therapists generally cover a separate area each. The Owner and creator of The Mobility Physio is Nadia Kopec and you can find out a bit more about each member of the team below.
Meet Nadia
I am Nadia Kopec. I was born and raised in Bedford and became a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2006 from Oxford Brookes University. After qualifying, I worked at Peterborough hospital and have spent 8 years as a Senior Physiotherapist at Bedford Hospital, specialising in care of the elderly the the last 4 years of my time there. I have now been working in my private business for 3 years and I treat older people after a hospital stay, help people with COPD and recurrent chest infections, anyone with decreased mobility, anyone with an increased risk of falls, maintain the mobility of patients with dementia and also rehabilitate people after elective and emergency orthpaedic surgery.
With two young children I decided to leave the NHS in 2016 enabling me to fit work around my other commitments. I am passionate about ensuring age and memory loss doesnt become a barrier to mobility and so independence and quality of life.
Types of things we can offer….
- Individual treatment and exercise regimes
- Intense rehabilitation for those in their own home or a residential or nursing home
- Group exercise classes
- Attending appointments with a relative and patient to assist with mobility where required
- Advise carers in any setting how best to help a patient with their mobility to aid increase in independence
- Discuss requirements of any patient over the phone and if I feel physio is not the correct service then given advice and assistance in finding the correct service to help
Meet Joanne
Joanne is a Senior Physiotherapy Technician at The Mobility Physio and has previously worked within Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for approximately 19 years.
Joanne started out as an OT assistant for the NHS, became a joint therapy technician and is now working as a Senior Technical Instructor in the private sector. Joanne has a vast knowledge of wheelchairs and specialist seating from her time working with Leonard Cheshire Homes and has a real love for ensuring the best positioning is achieved while seated.
She has a diverse skill set which comes from working with Care of the elderly, dementia, adults with physical disabilities, post-surgical, amputee, Neurology and ABI clients and has a passion for falls prevention. Joanne is also qualified as an Otago instructor, group exercise instructor and takes sessions at local care homes and for local charities to provide exercises that suit a whole range of ages and abilities.
Meet Jenny
I am Jenny. I qualified from the University of Brighton in 2009, and since then have worked as a physiotherapist in a variety of settings in Bedfordshire & Milton Keynes. I have always been interested in the human brain and neurological conditions, and after working on the Stroke unit at Bedford Hospital I chose to specialise in Neurological Physiotherapy.
I then moved to work in a community neuro-rehabilitation team within the NHS – treating patients with neurological conditions in their own homes. For the past 2 years I have been the lead physiotherapist in a community based team in Milton Keynes.
In 2021 I started working as part-time lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Bedfordshire. I plan to continue lecturing alongside working for The Mobility Physio.
Meet Janette
Janette is a Technical Instructor at The Mobility Physio. She is Bedford born and bred and has worked in a lot of different settings, including the hospital and also in the community.
Janette has also worked as an activities coordinator, as a manager of an assisted living complex and Bedford hospital as a therapy technician in different specialities. Janette has seen first hand how important mobility is in ensuring that people can achieve a good quality of life and has worked with people with cognitive decline, mobility problems and loves to problem solve to ensure someone can get the best out of their life.
She enjoys working with people from different walks of life and is passionate about keeping people as mobile as possible but also understands the importance of therapy in any form even if that is just talking or having company.
Meet Alex
Alex is a physiotherapist, who also has over twenty years’ experience supporting people through fitness programmes that range from mobility and cardio rehab to sports development and performance improvement.
She completed her 3 year BSc Physiotherapy degree at the University of Bedfordshire.
Her extensive experience in rehabilitation in both cardiac and pulmonary fields have spanned both the private and public (NHS) sectors.
Alex is also a qualified Pilates instructor, sports masseuse and regular fitness coach, and she is used to working with groups of people as well as individuals.
Alex’s caring personality shines through all her work and she has a fantastic way of motivating all of the individuals she works with, dedicating her time and effort to help people stay mobile, independent and achieve their goals.
